개인정보처리방침
Last updated: 2026.09.17
1. What we collect, and why
| Data collected | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|
| Email address | Sending the newsletter (notification of new essays) | Until you unsubscribe |
| Company or institution, contact name, email, phone (optional), enquiry details, desired timeline, budget range | Responding to Studio production enquiries and discussing quotes | 1 year after the enquiry is closed (3 years after contract end if a contract is signed) |
| A cryptographic hash of your IP address | Preventing automated bulk submission of the enquiry form | 30 days from collection |
This site collects no personal data beyond the above. There is no account registration, sign-in, or payment, so payment information is not collected at all. Please enter only what is needed for us to reply, and do not enter sensitive data such as health information in the enquiry form.
2. How we collect it
We collect it only when you enter and submit it yourself, in one of two places:
- The newsletter subscription form (/journal/subscribe/)
- The Studio enquiry form (/studio/contact/)
No personal data is collected through automated means such as cookies or tracking pixels. The one exception is that, on an enquiry submission, your IP address is recorded as a salted hash only, to prevent automated bulk submission (§ 6).
3. Processors and transfer outside Korea
We entrust the processing of personal data to the providers below. All of them are located outside the Republic of Korea, so the details of that transfer are disclosed here as required by Article 28-8 of the Personal Information Protection Act.
| Processor (country) | Work entrusted | Data transferred | When and how | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Vercel Inc. (United States) privacy@vercel.com |
Website hosting and form handling | Everything listed in § 1 | On submission, transmitted over the network | Until the processing agreement ends |
| Neon Inc. (United States) privacy@neon.tech |
Database storage | Everything listed in § 1 | On submission, transmitted over the network | For the retention period in § 1 |
| Resend Inc. (United States) privacy@resend.com |
Sending the enquiry notification email | Company or institution, contact name, email, phone, enquiry details, timeline, budget range | On enquiry submission, transmitted over the network | Per the provider's own log policy after delivery |
You may refuse this transfer outside Korea. Because the processing is essential to providing the service, refusing means the newsletter and the enquiry form cannot be used; write to thegalenus@gmail.com if you wish to discuss it.
We do not otherwise provide personal data to third parties, except where required by law.
4. Deletion
- On an unsubscribe request, the email address is deleted without delay.
- Every newsletter we send carries an unsubscribe link at the foot of the message.
- You can also unsubscribe manually by writing to thegalenus@gmail.com.
- Studio enquiries are deleted once the retention period in § 1 expires, and sooner if you ask us to delete them.
5. Your rights
- You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of the personal data (your email address) we hold.
- You may refuse to receive the newsletter (unsubscribe) at any time, with no disadvantage to you.
- Send such requests by email to thegalenus@gmail.com; we act on them within 10 days of receipt.
6. Technical measures
- The site protects data in transit with HTTPS (TLS) encryption.
- Collected personal data is held in a system with restricted access.
- For the enquiry form, the IP address is never stored in its original form: only a one-way hash with a salt applied, used solely to prevent automated bulk submission. It is not used to identify anyone.
7. Cookies and analytics
This site uses no cookies or web beacons, and no advertising-oriented third-party analytics tools such as Google Analytics.
It does use Vercel Analytics and Vercel Speed Insights to measure visits and performance. Neither sets cookies nor identifies individuals; they collect aggregated visit information only, such as page path, referrer, device type and country.
8. Changes to this policy
This privacy policy may be revised in line with applicable law or changes to the service. Changes take effect on this page immediately, and material changes will be announced on the site or through the newsletter.
9. Data protection officer
For enquiries and complaints concerning personal data:
Email: thegalenus@gmail.com
10. Governing law
This policy is written in accordance with the Republic of Korea's Personal Information Protection Act and the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection.
